Goodbye Horses

Well...goodbye Mogwokamol-I-A :(
She went to the vet for a checkup and they found a microchip. She had been lost for a while before Sarah found her and was really far away from home. I spoke to her owner on the phone and she had been so distraught, she thought she was dead.. so we did a good deed but we miss her so much :'(

On the plus side we have a new puppy called Frank-- pictures coming soon!
And we have been featured in a post about vintage and customised trends on Reach Students blog

Operation Power to the Pentagon is complete! And now all we need is the floor down, ramp and our boys to work their magic pimping the inside. We can't wait, it's going to look fanfuckingtastic. We shall post some photos when it's all done. Here is a little clue for what's in store:

The Superfine Honeycomb Hideout

We are getting rather excited with the progress on our lovely shed! Sarah is now painting the walls bright green and azure blue with a little help from our friends.
Here is a photo of how it looked a couple of days ago:
More good news -- there is a new pussycat living with us here on The Parade! She is so so cuddly and has a really strange sounding meow. Here's Mogwok:

Tepid Eggs

I catch a stolen glimpse with my left eye, the moon is smiling at me.
I have spotted Jupiter a few times in the past few weeks. Found this great website which has a really simple map of the sky http://www.neave.com/planetarium/
Our new studio is up in the back garden! It is beautiful and feels bigger on the inside than I expected without being too huge and filling up the garden. Sarah has been captain sealing knots in preparation for painting the inside and we will be having many Shed Blessings to celebrate. Photos coming soon!
Here are some new feather earrings available from our website or Etsy shop

R.I.P. Puppy Machine Dawg

Apologies for the lack of postage, for we are in mourning. My darling little hairy piglet was tragically struck down in his prime by a giant metal monster sent straight from hell. Mongrel Meets His Maker indeed. This song means more than you will ever know. Here's a video of Starsky singing for his supper:

The concrete base is down and ready for our studio which will arrive soon. We are so excited! But a bit saddened that the Pig isn't here to trot around it and make it a brighter place. Here is a preview of a bunch of candy coloured simple button necklaces which will be available to buy through our website and Etsy shop very soon

Vintage Pretty

Thanks to everyone who came out to Vintage Pretty last weekend, we did really well and even sold one of our favourite bejewelled bibs.

In other news, we have finally ordered our new jewellery studio! It is a beautiful wooden insulated cabin that will go in the back garden and we are so so excited! It should be arriving October 11th and takes just a couple of days to install...and best of all our darling graffiti artist SLIG we will be helping us pimp the inside -- it goes a little something like this:

A couple of our photos of the Pink Treble Clef Necklace with the Motel dress have been featured on the Motel Style Blog
I knew it would be a good week when I saw the moon turn orange last Sunday. This is the dawning of a new era

Lucky Sarah has stowed away on a trip to Edinburgh with a couple of bilge rats today so I am left holding the fort and waiting for my postcard!
I am like 70% offended that nobody has had the decency to inform me about the legend that is Screamin' Jay Hawkins. He actually wrote the song I Put A Spell On You and this live version is fucking incredible! Check out the crazy eyes. And the tusks.
Oh yeah, back to business. We have some new bracelets in the shop today made from vintage charms, crystals, bells and amazing glittery gold star buttons we bought in Paris.

I had scallops last night

Hello chaps! Not much on the jewellery front today I'm afraid; it's that bastard Evola's fault, he kept us up all night rifling through our bins again! Can't blame him really, we're pretty cool cats and it is his birthday after all. To mark the occasion here is another version of the fantastic Paddy P's Testiclates
Until recently we had never fully appreciated the true majesty and importance of Ganesh in our lives, turns out he's the Lord of success and destroyer of selfishness, vanity and pride. Ganesh's head symbolizes the Atman or the soul, which is the ultimate supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifies Maya or the earthly existence of human beings. The elephant head denotes wisdom and its trunk represents Om, the sound symbol of cosmic reality and he is the personification of material universe in all its various magnificent manifestations.
Overall he is my second favourite elephant (obviously first place goes to John)

Testiclates

This week an important alliance has been formed, the results of which may prove cataclysmic for the rest of you mere mortals. But we can't be sure of that yet, so don't panic.

Space Is The Place

We have had a reply from the MOD!

"Please note that with effect from the 1 December 2009 the Ministry of Defence will no longer respond to, or investigate, UFO sighting Reports.
The MOD has no opinion on the existence or otherwise of extra-terrestrial life. However, in over fifty years, no UFO report has revealed any evidence of a potential threat to the United Kingdom.
The MOD has no specific capability for identifying the nature of such sightings. There is no Defence benefit in such investigation and it would be an inappropriate use of defence resources. Furthermore, responding to reported UFO sightings diverts MOD resources from tasks that are relevant to Defence.
Any UFO sightings reported to this e-mail address will not receive a response and will be automatically deleted."

I replied anyway to say I was more concerned it might be the Russians.

We had a lovely day on Saturday trying to peddle our wares in Coopers Field with Kirstie a.k.a. Bizarre Bazaark. I'm loving the Where's Wally vintage clutch bag she pimped!

There's loads more jewellery in our Etsy shop now and and some newer, detailed listings on the website of some of our extra special items: www.itsalovelycake.com/special
This week Sarah is currently playing a lot of G and C chords on guitar... oh yeah they sound pretty sweet with a bit of TESTICLATES action. Lyric of the day: intercourse with a porpoise with no condom on on purpose

We are really excited about a Lovely Cake piece of artwork that Nicole of HellsSewingCircle is currently working on for us which will soon be on display on our website and new business cards coming soon!

Piss on a fox, kiss its nose

Dear Hackney police, I can attest that the fox in question regarding the attacks on the babies was with me that night so it can't have been him. We got pretty drunk and had pizza, it was a good night. Sincerely, alibi for foxes everywhere

These are our newest SCUMFUCK earrings, they are so long, loaded and shiny! Also this week there have been some very exciting developments but it is top secret for now ;)
We are still working on our website
and I think it's looking pretty good.
Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant is out this week which I highly recommend-- it's better than the original!

Now With 100% More Bears

Here's some animals frolicking around the bog wood. I LOVE the bear! He's so cute! I got him from kissavintagedesign and the squirrels came from wickedpen. Even better, when Sarah went to the shop the other day to get breakfast she returned with a pair of tiny foxes to go with the shrine. Not Soviet foxes but cute little reddish-brown porcelain ones!
And by George, what a fantastic breakfast. Definitely a Breakfast of Champions but without the plastic stuck your feet. Eggs is eggs. Duck eggs to be precise. They were GOOD eggs.

Remember What The Dormouse Said

As you can see we have been taking some more photos of Sarah wearing some jewellery ^_^ Think you can do better? Drop us a message if you are a cute girl between the ages of 18 and 25 and fancy doing some pictures with us!
At the moment we are loving singing White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane. What a tune.

We are designing our new flash website which is looking amazing so far... it will hopefully be up and running in the next few weeks!

In other news we are happy to be releasing two of our favourite necklaces into the wild, going to Australia and Los Angeles

As your attorney I advise you to keep your beady eyes on the blog Aspire for your chance to win an It's A Lovely Cake long Bambi necklace in an upcoming giveaway! We'll keep you posted.

The Jewellery Maker

Sarah was recently lucky enough to have her portrait painted by the amazing artist, Neil Chard. It was entered into the BP National Portrait Awards, although unfortunately it didn't make the shortlist. We think it's amazing! It looks like a photograph! You can even see all the split ends perfectly ha ha. It's called "The Jewellery Maker" and features one of our necklaces (Vintage Rainbow Crystal Necklace With Parisian Button) He took over 100 photos of Sarah and made up an image from those. From start to finish it took four months to paint!
Please become a fan of Neil Chard on Facebook to see more of his art!

We praised the Sun today

And I love to live so pleasantly
Live this life of luxury
Lazin' on a sunny afternoon

The sun is shining
The weather is sweet, yeah

Good Day Sunshine
Good Day Sunshine
Good Day Sunshine!

Yesterday we had fun with Modpodge -- it is this amazing magical substance, an adhesive goo you can use to decoupage and make collages. We have made few earring holders from vintage 7 inch vinyls covered with pictures from cut up Dragonball Z comics and a manga called Et Cetera using some Modpodge, it's pretty fun and they are looking really good! We've also been looking at some better website building tools.
Demonic nipples.
Lyric of the day: Do you realise the sun doesn't go down it's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

You Asked For The Truth!

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth.

New stuff

We've got a lot done this past few days! Mostly website stuff; there are a few things available to purchase now straight from the website:
http://www.itsalovelycake.com/userimages/procart6.htm
And we've made some cool new jewellery -- a couple of loaded charm bracelets, some bright and chunky necklaces and an amazing black chain bib necklace which will all be up for you to see soon ^_^
Also this week we have learned that we are both golden dragons! We were born in 1988, the year of the Dragon, but since the number eight is lucky in Chinese culture that makes it the year of the Golden Dragon.
Remember the giveaway we did on Daisy May's blog? The winner of the bracelet was Dottie K who has her own blog about beauty and cosmetics. She reviews new makeup and products so you always know what to try.
http://pinkpoppolkadot.blogspot.com
In other news, I have been lumbered with a piece of wood. It is quite large, about a foot and a half tall, and an interesting irregular shape. I'm going to make some kind of disgusting shrine to all things cute and kawaii out of it. Which means we'll need to hoard even more little animals! I'm even wrestling with the idea of having some taxidermy... sick, I know.
Today we are listening to Necro - Keep on driving and Johnny Adams - Please release me
